Karnataka concede lead
Uttar Pradesh take complete control on day 2 of Col CK Nayudu quarterfinal.

Karnataka are in deep trouble against Uttar Pradesh in the quarterfinals of the Col CK Nayudu trophy under 22 cricket tounament being played at Gaziabad. At the end of day 2 of the four day match, the hosts took the vital first innings lead thanks to a brilliant unbeaten century by Prashant Gupta. Uttar Pradesh ended the day at 346 for the loss of eight wickets in reply to Karnataka's first innings total of 212. From here on the visitors will hope for a miracle to enter the next round, since a draw would mean an end to Karnataka's campaign in the championship this year.
The visitor's good start in the morning as they reduced UP to 27 for three wickets after the host started the day on 13 for one. But thereafter UP's Prashant Gupta displayed terrific batting skills as he sent the Karnataka bowlers on a leather hunt. He along with Ali Murtaza took the hosts past the 100 run mark before Murtaza was out for 36. But Gupta continued with his onslaught along with Ankit Tiwari to take their team's total to 172, when Ankit fell for 35.
From there on it was UP all the way, as Prashant along with new batsmen Umang Kumar first helped the team take the vital first innings lead and then take the team's total past the 300 run mark. Prashant completed his century, while Umang scored a gritty 53 before falling to KP Appanna. Karnataka took some late wickets, but Prashant remained unbeaten on 153 with 17 boundaries and one huge six, when the days play was called off. For Karnataka Aditya Sagar and KP Appanna took three wickets each for 69 and 72 runs respectively.
