Chikka clinches crown
Kolkata: Bangalore boy Chikkarangappa put up a commanding display at the Tollygunge Golf Club to lift the Lalit Suri Eastern India junior golf title for the second consecutive year. A birdie-blitz on the front-nine helped the 16-year-old card a round of four-under 66, which gave him the best round of the tournament and a total of seven-under 273, eight shots clear of the nearest challenger.
Khalin Joshi ensured a Bangalore 1-2 with a final-round 68 to edge ahead of Ashbeer Saini. Both players had an identical tournament total of one-over 281, but Khalin was adjudged runner-up with a better back-nine on his card.
Aman Raj emerged as the winner in Category B (U-15) after carding a 73 on Saturday. At 13-over 293 for the tournament, Raj finished four ahead of 13-year-old Honey Baisoya.
