Three meet records bettered

The girls seemed to have found their moorings on the new track in the 25th State Junior Athletics Championships at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium as three new meet records were registered on the first day on Tuesday.
Indo-German Sports Club's Nirupama Sunderraj was in good form and won the girls' under-18 100 metres sprint in 11.6 seconds. This time is 0.4 seconds less than the previous record held by Yamini D Rao from 2006.
The first year pre-university commerce student had the edge over her rival Rebecca Jose (DYSS, Bangalore) and never really had any problems winning.
Joyline Lobo (Alva's, Moodbidri) was the first one to better a record on the day. Her distance of 12.30M in the girls U-20 triple jump was better than Shilpa Sequeira's record of 12.28M, which was set in 1999.
The third record of the day was set by Belgaum girl Mrudula Halgekar in the 600M event of the girls U-14 category. She timed one minute, 42.3 seconds on Tuesday as against the previous record of 1:43.0, which was in the name of Nithyashree CA.
