ind_aus_second_match_443_01India defeated Australia by 99 runs in the second One-Day International cricket match.Chasing a victory target of 355 runs, Australia were bowled out for 255 in 48.3 overs.

Praveen Kumar bowled exceptionally well and took early wickets.Shane Watson and Ponting looked dangerous but Ponting was trapped lbw by Praveen Kumar.

Ravindra Jadeja stood to the expectations of his captain and took 3 wickets. Ishant Sharma broke the silence and bounced back very strongly in the game. Dhoni was named the man of the match.

Ravindra Jadeja (3-35), Praveen Kumar (2-37) and Ishant Sharma (2-34) were the wicket-takers.

How things unfolded

Australians decided to put India to bat considering the dew factor. unfortunately, Punter is now sitting in the dressing room cursing the moment he took this decision.

When Sachin lost his wicket with just 21 runs on the board, Indian across the world glued to the screen, cursed and felt highly disappointed. But what began as a disappointing innings soon turned out to be the most spectacular, sensational Indian innings in the recent past.

The destruction of the Aussie bowling attack was auspicated by none other than Sehwag and Gambhir. The two duo's threw their bats on anything that was short of a good delivery. Sehwag raced to a 31 ball 40 and Gautam played a supportive knock of 76 runs, consuming just 80 deliveries.

Yuvraaj Singh who was brought back to the side, resting Virat Kohli, didn't prove to be a bad bet. He scored a quick 23 of 24 balls, before being dismissed by Hilfenhau.

But a cracker of an innings was played by M S Dhoni. The skipper took the charge and played an examplary knock of 124 in just 107 balls, showing his team-mates that what he expects from them is something he is also capable of delivering. This was the highiest score by any captain against Australia, the previous being Jayasurya (122 runs, Sydney).

This match will test the mettle of the Aussies, and the Indian bowling attack together. The highiest score successfully chased by Australia was 326 (Aus vs S.Africa) in 2002. Dhoni would now be dependent on his bowlers to ball at the right length and take this match into their kitty.

India is has leveled one-one in the seven match series to the Australians.
