Kolkata: A PIL was today filed in the Calcutta High Court against allotment of a plot of land to former captain of the Indian cricket team Sourav Ganguly in the posh Salt Lake area.
The CA Block Citizens' Association today filed the PIL seeking cancellation of the allotment to Ganguly on the ground that norms and rules were violated in leasing out the 62-cottah land to the former captain.
A school, namely Wissen International School, is being set up by a group of which Sourav is one of the promoters and the land has been allotted in his name.
The petition was filed in the name of the association's president, S K Mukhopadhyay, and the respondents are, apart from Ganguly, West Bengal Urban Development department and Bidhannagar (Salt Lake) Municipality.
