London: England football star David Beckham is looking to buy his own team in Montreal and could be shifting wife Victoria and his family off to freezing Canada.

Beckham has an option in his contract to buy a club when his career at LA Galaxy ends.

The England midfielder is eyeing up fledgling side Montreal Impact as the team tries to secure an MLS franchise deal from 2012,The Daily Star reports.

Beckham will want a "hands-on" role and would buy a home close to the club. But he might find it hard to get Victoria away from sunny LA.

She admitted in this month's Elle magazine: "You know I love America. It's such a positive country. When people say to me: how long did it take for you to adjust? Poor you, it must've been really difficult. Poor me? I'm living in Beverley Hills! I'm very, very lucky."

"I have the right to own an MLS franchise, which I will action immediately after I have stopped playing," Beckham said.
