New Delhi: After her title triumph in Indonesia Super Series, a confident Saina Nehwal will open her campaign against Thailand's Porntip Buranaprasertsuk in the Malaysian Open Grand Prix Gold badminton at Johar Bahru Wednesday.
Saina has been given the second seeding in the tournament while France's Pi Hongyan is the top seed in the 32-player draw.
The 19-year-old Indian upset world No. 3 Chinese Lin Wang Sunday to become the first Indian to win a Super Series tournament.
Hopes will be riding high on the world No.8 Saina as the field is not as strong as last week's Super Series line-up where the eight of world's top-10 were competing.
Saina's first round opponent Buranaprasertsuk is World No. 39. Chinese import Hongyan is the only player above Saina in the draw at No.6 in the world ranking.
After her historic triumph Sunday, Saina said her immediate priority would be to focus on the Malaysian Open event.
Another Indian in the women's draw, Aditi Mutatkar, will meet Mingtian Fu of Singapore in the first round.
The men's singles will have as many as six Indians competing.
