Venus Williams will begin the defence of her Wimbledon title today and hopefully follow in the direction of sister, Serena, yesterday.

The 29 year-old American has had an amazing SW19 record, winning 58 of her 65 matches. In the last 9 years, Venus has won the title five times, reached the finals twice but failed to replicate her success at the other three grand slams.

Williams has won the US Open twice but lost out on the others. 

Venus Williams is third seeded behind sister Serena and world No. 1 Dinara Safina. But then that is not a cause for much concern. 

What remains to be seen is the beginning serve and the volley that must follow.
