Fit-again Chowrasia eyes Abu Dhabi championship

Greater Noida: Shrugging off the disappointment of a forgettable season, a fit-again S S P Chowrasia hopes to regain lost glory next season starting with the Abu Dhabi golf championship from January 15.

A nagging wrist injury kept Chowrasia off course for 12 weeks and the comeback was not so smooth either as he failed to make an impact in any of the tournaments he played.

His famed short-game, that has earned him the nickname Chip-puttsia , suffered because of the wrist ailment and it ended up being a season of discontent for him.

"I played only 12 tournaments in the Asian tour this year and with my injury forcing me to keep out for many weeks, it was a tough year.

"I hope I can do well next season starting with Abu Dhabi Golf Championship, Commercialbank Qatar Masters and Dubai Desert Classic in January," Chowrasia said.

After his injury lay-off, Chowrasia played in Hero Honda Indian Open, Barclays Singapore Open, UBS Hong Kong Open, Hana Bank Vietnam Masters, Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open and Volvo Masters of Asia but could not found his touch as he struggled with his drives.
