Mysore:Two national records were eclipsed even as Kerala hogged the limelight claiming seven gold medals on the second day of the 24th national junior athletics championship here today.
Maharashtra sprinter Sabha Bhaghat stole the show in the boys under-18 section, winning gold in the 110m hurdles with a timing 14.06 seconds.
He bettered the national mark of 14.38 secs set by Kerala s Akhil Krishna.
Second-placed Keshava Ramani of Tamil Nadu also bettered the national mark with an effort of 14.34 secs.
In the girls under-18 section, G Gayatri of Tamil Nadu smashed the national mark, winning the 100m in 14.02 secs.
She bettered Karnataka s Poonam Belliappa s 14.39 secs.
Gayatri s teammate N Hemashree, who finished second, also improved the mark with a timing of 14.26 secs.
Satira Tillath of Kerala created a new meet record in pole vault, scaling 3.26m. She bettered the record of Tamil Nadu s VS Surekha (3.25m).
Kerala overtook Tamil Nadu in the medals tally on the second day today, bagging seven golds. Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu won three gold apiece. Karnataka, Punjab, Maharashtra won two each and Orissa One.
