Sydney: Promising Australian fast bowler Peter Siddle has been ruled out of the one-day series against South Africa with a stress fracture in his foot and will be replaced by Queenslander Ryan Harris.

Siddle, the man of the match in the third Test win over the Proteas at the SCG, has been replaced by Queensland swing bowler Ryan Harris for the first two matches in the five-game series.

Twenty20 sensation David Warner is also likely to make his one-day debut as vice-captain Michael Clarke in still in doubt with a thumb injury.

Clarke will have his thumb examined in Melbourne Wednesday.

Team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said that Siddle has been playing with pain in his left foot which grew worse during the 2-1 Test series loss to South Africa.

"After the series was completed, we investigated and scans revealed the early signs of mild stress on a bone in his left foot," Kountouris said in a statement. "As such, Peter needs a short period of rest before resuming bowling which we anticipate will be in a further two weeks. He is expected to take part in the one-day series against New Zealand in February."
