Tigers are ready to pounce on Giants
Thursday, October 16, 2008 08:33 [IST]

HYDERABAD: One game, one win. The Royal Bengal Tigers are literally roaring before they face the Delhi Giants in the eighth match of the ICL 20s Challenge at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium here on Thursday.

To go with the mood of someone like Hamish Marshall, who had a party out there last Sunday against the pre-match favourites Lahore Badshahs, victory is assured once they take to the field. "There is no strategy for us. In simple words we have to repeat our performance of the last day where we won convincingly," Marshall told DNA.

The eight-wicket victory over the Badshahs has charged the Tigers up before they play another tough opponent on Thursday. "We knocked off the runs losing only two wickets and that is a confidence booster for us," Marshall felt. Senior team member Deep Dasgupta was, however, a bit cautious.

"We have won one match, but the upcoming matches are of equal importance. If we can repeat the performance we did against the Badshahs, then we surely stand a good chance to come out with flying colours," Dasgupta said on the eve of the match on Wednesday.

The former India wicketkeeper admitted that the Giants are a very good side and the match won't be a cakewalk. "Our matches against them have always been tight ones and so I don't expect it to be any different on Thursday too," he felt.

He praised the bowling strength of the Giants. "They have the likes of Shane Bond, TP Sudhindra, Ali Murtaza who are all bowling pretty well and their bowling is their strength, so we are not worried but cautious," Dasgupta stated.

He rued that they are going to miss someone like Pritam Das, who had been operated upon. "Yes, he will miss the season. He is one of the best among the youngsters of this tournament," Dasgupta said. On what score would be enough if they bat first, Dasgupta said something around 150 to 160.

"It actually depends on which wicket we will play. If it is a fresh wicket then 150-160 would be a good score for a side batting first," Dasgupta felt.
