McGain ruled out of the first Test against India
Wednesday, October 01, 2008 15:46 [IST]

Sydney: Australia's depleted spin attack was dealt another blow with Bryce McGain ruled out of the first Test against India starting in Bangalore Nov 9.

The 36-year-old leg spinner from Victoria was ruled out Wednesday when he pulled up his strained shoulder in the nets in Hyderabad ahead of the four-day match against Board President's XI beginning Thursday.

McGain was to lead Australia's spin attack in the Test series after incumbent Beau Casson was overlooked for the tour, Daily Telegraph reports.

The 25-year-old Tasmanian off-spinner Jason Krejza is now set to make his Test debut at the Chinnaswamy Stadium next week.

McGain injured the shoulder playing for Australia A on their tour to India last month.
