MUMBAI: Trident racing has expressed interest in hiring Indian A1GP driver Narain Karthikeyans services for the GP2 Asia series. Alessandro Alunni Bravi, who is the managing director of the Italian team, told DNA that his team would like to have the former F1 driver on their team. "Narain brings in a lot of experience. It would be great to have him on the team for the GP2 Asia series," he said.
Narain had tested with the Italian team on Thursday and Friday at The Paul Ricard circuit in France. Speaking about the test, Bravi said that since the Indian driver was driving in A1GP for the last two seasons, he was used to a comparatively low down force.
"As a result, on the first day, he tried to get a feel of the car and finished 20th. On the second day, he came into his own and moved up the order to 8th place."
Bravi further added that though the I Italian team hadnt yet decided upon the drivers line-up for the GP2 main series, they are keen to have Narain for GP2 Asia that begins on October 19 this year.
Tridents interest in Karthikeyan comes at a time when the A1GP organisers are struggling to roll out all the cars for the seasons opening race at Zandvoort, Netherlands on October 5. With the delay in car production, the first race of A1GP is expected to start with a small grid line-up.
