Thursday, May 15, 2008 12:04 [IST]

New Delhi: Leander Paes and his new partner Tommy Robredo moved into the quarterfinals of the Hamburg Masters tennis tournament, stunning third seed Israeli pair of Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram in the second round.

The unseeded Indo-Spanish pair had to stretch themselves to the full to prevail over the Erlich-Ram duo 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 in the super tie-breaker on Wednesday night.

They will next face the winners of the match between eighth seed Australian-South African pair of Paul Hanley and Wesley Moodie and the unseeded Croat-Swedish combination of Ivan Ljubicic and Robin Soderling.

The other Indian in the event, Mahesh Bhupathi and his Bahamian partner Mark Knowles had already been shown the door in the second round by the unseeded American pair of James Blake and Mardy Fish.
