Karachi: The governing body of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will meet on May 13 to formulate a strategy to counter Senate Standing Committee on Sports relentless drive against its senior officials.
The Senate Committee has been holding hearings with the PCB officials on various aspects of the cricket set-up and the performance of the officials and the national team.
A couple of days ago, the Senate committee asked the board to furnish, by May 29, all details of its existing bank accounts, expenses, salaries/perks of staff and money spent on foreign trips of the top bosses.
A senator has claimed that the board had spent Rs 1.2 billion in the last 10 months from accounts maintained with different banks.
"The governing body has some respectable and influential members and they will be asked to help formulate a strategy to counter the negative campaigning against the board," a source told PTI.
"The feeling is that the governing body members should now come forward and help bail out the board from its growing problems," the source stated.
The source said this issue had been put on the agenda for the meeting as well as the problem of confidential documents given to the Senate committee being leaked out to the media.
The Board will also discuss arrangements for the upcoming Asia Cup in June-July and give approval for the national team's participation in the one-day tri series in Bangladesh early next month.
