Injured Czech captain Rosicky to skip Euro 2008
Saturday, May 10, 2008 16:27 [IST]

Prague: Czech captain Tomas Rosicky has a hamstring injury and will not play at Euro 2008 in June.

Rosicky, 27, told reporters on Friday that the treatment of his hamstring injury would not be completed by Euro.

The Arsenal midfielder's absence may hasten the return of former captain Pavel Nedved to the national team, the Czech news agency CTK said.

Nedved definitively ended his career with the national team in 2006, but it has been rumoured that he might help the national team in the absence of Rosicky.

A similar injury prevented another Czech midfielder, Vladimir Smicer, who then played for Bordeaux, from playing Euro 2006.
