Tough group for India in Youth Cup soccer

New Delhi: India have been grouped with formidable clubs, Barcelona, PSV Eidenhoven and Flamengo, in the under-19 Champions Youth Cup football tournament in Malaysia from August 2-17.

The 16-team tournament has four Asian teams, Qatar, China, hosts Malaysia besides India, fighting it out for the title alongside defending champions Manchester United, Juventus and Bayern Munich, among others.

India are in Group A and will play in Kuantan, while Ajax Amesterdam, Chelsea, AC Milan and Malaysia, who are in Group B will be based in Penang.

Olympic Lyon, Bayern Munich, River Plate and Qatar are in Group C and play at Malacca and Manchester United, Porto, Juventus and China in Group D at Kuala Terengganu.

The semi-finals and final will be played in Kuala Lumpur.

Groupings:

Group A: PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Flamengo, India.
Group B: Ajax Amesterdam, Chelsea, AC Milan, Malaysia.
Group C: Olympic Lyon, Bayern Munich, River Plate, Qatar.
Group D: Porto, Manchester United, Juventus, China.
