Tuesday, May 06, 2008 21:10 [IST]

New Delhi: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) on Tuesday named a five-member ad-hoc committee to run the country's hockey affairs in place of the superseded Indian Hockey Federation.

The committee will be headed by IOA President Suresh Kalmadi and will have IOA secretary- general Randhir Singh, treasurer A K Mattoo, Aslam Sher Khan and Rajiv Mehta as the members. Aslam Sher is also the chairman of the hockey selection committee comprising Olympians.

"As per the decision of the Executive Council, IOA President appointed an ad-hoc committee consisting five members from within the members of the General Assembly of the IOA," IOA said in a statement. The ad-hoc committee has also appointed three advisors to look after marketing, adminstration and technical aspect.

N Ramachandran has been named as adviser (marketing), Bob Davidzon as adviser (adminstration) and Ric Charlesworth adviser (technical). Davidzon is the director of International Hockey Federation project - Promoting Indian Hockey.

IHF was superseded after federation secretary K Jothi Kumaran was caught in a sting operation, allegedly taking bribe to fix the selection of a player in the national team.
