Tuesday, May 06, 2008 17:32 [IST]
New Delhi: Sayan Chatterjee was today appointed as the Director General of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), replacing Ratan Wattal who will get a new posting, Sports Ministry sources said today.

Wattal, who took over the high-profile post five years ago, has not yet been given a new posting but sources said appointed to an additional secretary level post, they said.

"Wattal has been transfered and he would be given a additional secretary level posting as he was due for a promotion. It is completely an administrative decision," the sources said.

"At the moment he (Wattal) is under posting," the source added.

Chatterjee, a 1976 cadre IAS officer, has also served as the Deputy Election Commissioner.
