Jamshedpur: Veteran off-spinner and former skipper of Bihar Ranji team V Venkatram has been appointed as the spin bowling coach of the National Cricket Academy for India A batch.
Ashok Malhotra has been appointed the batting coach of the academy.
Confirming the report, Venkatram, a grade C coach of NCA, said he would send his consent on Monday to NCA Director Dav Whatmore.
He will be leaving Jamshedpur on May 30 to take up the job for a period of June 1 to July 31, 2008.
Venkatram became the coach of Jharkhand Ranji team after completing his grade C NCA coaching course in 2004. The team reached Ranji semi-final under his guidance and current Indian ODI skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni played under him as a member of the Ranji team for two years.
Later, Venkatram, who is also the coach of National School of Cricket at Dehradun along with Dilip Vengsarkar (visiting coach), was appointed as the coach of Tripura Ranji team in 2005. Source : PTI
