Saturday, May 03, 2008 10:15 [IST]
nadal_9Barcelona: Rafael Nadal beat Juan Ignacio Chela 6-4,6-2 on Friday after an early scare in the first set to advance to the semifinals of the Barcelona Open.

Chela led 4-2 in the opener before Nadal, looking for his fourth straight title in Barcelona, broke the Argentine's serve and took control of the match.

Nadal has now won 101 of his last 102 matches on clay. In other quarterfinal action, second-seeded Spaniard David Ferrer beat Tommy Robredo 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Ferrer, ranked fifth in the world, said he was in good shape physically. "I think that we players go through cycles, and at this time of year I always feel good," Ferrer said.

Also, 14th-seeded Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland beat Albert Montanes of Spain, 6-3,6-7 (6), 6-4.
