Sachin likely to miss out against Super Kings
Tuesday, April 22, 2008 22:20 [IST]

Chennai: Mumbai Indians captain Sachin Tendulkar is likely to miss his side's second outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Chennai Super Kings here on Wednesday.

Although there was no official statement from Tendulkar, team-mate Shaun Pollock informed reporters that the batting maestro's groin injury is being treated “conservatively” since the team wanted him for the entire tournament.

“I am not sure whether Sachin would be playing tomorrow. That is for the captain and the trainer to decide. However, his injury is being treated conservatively as we would like him to be fit for the other matches as well,” said Pollock.

Tendulkar had earlier missed the Indians’ opening match in the IPL against Bangalore Royal Challengers in Mumbai.

On his side's preparation for the important match against the formidable Super Kings, the South African said they have not made any special preparations but have worked out variations against the predominantly left-handed Super Kings batting line-up.

“We also have Dwayne Bravo for tomorrow's game. Bravo is a very talented cricketer and he brings a lot of value to the side,” Pollock observed.

Pollock predicted a high-scoring match in view of the flat pitch that resembled the one on which the drawn India-South Africa Test match was played last month.
