'IPL- A platform to help me revive my career'
Thursday, April 17, 2008 11:01 [IST]

ashish_nehraMumbai: Left arm pacer Ashish Nehra, who has struggled with injuries for long and has been roped in for Sachin Tendulkar-led Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, said today he was eager to regain his spot in the ODI team.

"Really, I am frustrated. I never thought the ankle injury will take a heavy toll of my cricket career. But the happy thing is that the IPL has provided me a platform to get a place in the ODI side," Nehra told reporters after the team's practice match here today.

When asked about his role in the team, he said "I may bowl the first and last two overs of the match. I will try to take more wickets also," he said.

"I am trying my level best to come out with colours. I even meet foreign doctors for my injuries," said the pacer, who plays for Delhi in Ranji Trophy.

Nehra pointed out Laxmipathy Balaji, as another bowler who has been struggling with injuries for long.

"You can observe that Balaji, a good player, is also struggling. People say we have stopped playing cricket, but the fact is injury has stopped our cricket," he said.

"I have also stopped watching cricket and usually spend time by travelling to tourist spots with my family members," he added.
