Reliance Mobile to sponsor ICC rankings
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 20:41 [IST]

New Delhi: Reliance Mobile is the new sponsor of International Cricket Council's (ICC) Team and Player's Rankings, the world cricket organisation said here here on Wednesday.

The rankings will now be known as the Reliance Mobile ICC Player Rankings and the Reliance Mobile ICC Test and Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Rankings.

Reliance Communications had entered into an eight-year agreement with the ICC last year, starting with the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in South Africa. This new agreement will last till 2015.

Commenting on the agreement, ICC chief executive officer Malcolm Speed said: "The ICC Rankings have established themselves as the benchmark for players and teams since their inception and they give context to every single batsman's innings, bowling spell, Test and ODI played."

"We have already established an excellent relationship with Reliance Communications starting in South Africa last year with the ICC World Twenty20, and, given that relationship, we are delighted to extend it further, with Reliance Mobile becoming the sponsor of ICC Rankings."

Sanjay Behl, head of branding, Reliance Communications, said: "Reliance Mobile's relationship with the ICC is a long-term strategic association. We are proud to be associated with the official Reliance Mobile ICC Rankings."
