Muharraq ready for Dempo's challenge
Monday, March 31, 2008 19:59 [IST]
Panaji: Bahrain champions Al Muharraq are confident of putting across Dempo in their Group A third round match of the AFC Cup at Nehru Stadium, Margao, on April 2.

The visitors had a practice session today at Varca ground to acclimatise themselves to the hot and humid conditions. Muharraq are leading the group with four points from two matches and are one point ahead of Dempo.

They have two foreign recruits in their ranks, nine national squad players and six players who represented their country in pre-Olympics. Coach Salman Ahmed Rasheed Shareeda excepts nothing less than three points.

Salman, who who guided Pakistan to victory over India in the SAFF Cup in Sri Lanka a couple of years back, has done his home work well, studying his rival team's strength.

He has managed to get the video footages of Dempo's AFC Cup match against Sur Club of Oman.

"I have enough information about Dempo squad and know what to except from them as we prepare ourselves for the challenge," said the visiting coach, adding that he had made his notings about the three foreign recruits who play crucial role for the home side.
