Mangalore: Last year's runners-up Kolkata Port Trust (KPT) won the 31st All India Major Ports table tennis tournament, defeating Mumbai Port Trust (MPT) 3-1 here today.
In the men's singles final, Amit Mukherjee of KPT defeated Pankaj Kadoo of MPT 11-9,11-6,12-14,11-7. In the other singles, S Desavas defeated Sunil Kelkar 11-7,11-3,11-9 while A. C. Chaudhary lost to Sanjay Patankar of MPT 11-9,8-11,6-11,7-11.
Earlier, Amit Mukherjee defeated Sunil Kelkar 11-2,11-5,11-9. In the doubles, KPT took the top spot while Mumbai and Vizag finished second and third places respectively. In the veterans singles, D Suresh of Vizag Port Trust won the title followed by Prakash G Rane of MPT and Prashanth Buch of Khandla respectively.
The event was organised by the New Mangalore Port Trust under the aegis of Major Ports Sports Control Board.
