Chandigarh: The Haryana Government today made an offer to Virender Sehwag to set up a cricket academy in the state to groom budding players.
"The State Government will provide all facilities and necessary assistance in this regard," Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda told Sehwag after congratulating him over telephone last night for scoring the fastest triple ton against South Africa in Chennai. Sehwag may have fallen 81 short of breaking Brian Lara's record but his career-best innings of 319 against South Africa seemed to have impressed Hooda.
"I was elated over the way Sehwag batted. It was a moment of pride for every Indian," Hooda said. The Chief Minister told Sehwag that Haryana being a neighbouring state of Delhi would be glad to help him for setting up the academy. Sehwag thanked Hooda for his gesture and said he was honoured by the offer, official sources said.
