Saturday, March 29, 2008 14:12 [IST]
Mumbai: The Cricket Board's Sports Medicine consultant, Dr Anant Joshi has been appointed as a member of the newly constituted ICC Medical Committee, the BCCI said today.

Dr Joshi, who has been heading the BCCI's medical committee for almost two decades, holds Master of Surgery (Orthopaedics) degree from the University of Mumbai, besides possessing Master's degree in Sports Sciences in Sports Mechanics and Fitness from the United States Sports Academy of Alabama in the US, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah said in a media release.

Dr Joshi told PTI that he had received a letter from ICC CEO Malcolm Speed informing him of his appointment in the committee to he headed by Dr Harcourt of Australia.

"We are yet to meet as the five-member committee has only been recently constituted. The agenda of the committee is yet to be decided, but it looks like that we may deal with the aspect of doping in the sport and how to prevent injuries."

"Only after our first meeting the picture would be clearer," he said.
