Chennai: The 'Indian wall' Rahul Dravid on Saturday became the sixth batsman overall, and third Indian, to score 10,000 Test runs as India surpassed South Africa's first innings core of 540 in the first Future Cup Test here.
Dravid started the day 15 runs shy of the mark. And eventually reached it after an hour's play when he flicked Morne Morkel on to the leg side for a single.
Dravid now joins the elite club of Brian Lara (11,953), Sachin Tendulkar (11,782), Allan Border (11,174), Steve Waugh (10,927) and Sunil Gavaskar (10,122).
Dravid also became only the third batsman to have scored 10,00 runs in both Tests and One-dayers after Tendulkar and Lara.
