Pit-stops, reverse grid debut in JK Tyre National
Thursday, January 31, 2008 19:20 [IST]

New Delhi: Pit-stops and reverse grid will debut when the 11th edition of JK tyre National Racing Championship rolls off the block in Chennai next month.

This time, the event will have six rounds in Chennai and Coimbatore in two classes -- Formula LGB Swift and Formula Rolon Chevrolet. "Each round will have two races and the second one would see reverse grid for the top eight teams. This would keep alive the competition," Sanjay Sharma, JK Tyre's motor sports head, said here today.

This year's teams will include NK Racing, WSRF, Gemini Racing, Rams Racing, Prime Racing, Amaron with Meco, ELF, Red Rooster and Meco Motorsports. JK Tyre is also introducing a National Enduro Championship with Formula LGB Hyundai. "This race will run for 90 minutes with two drivers per car. No driver can race for more than 22 minutes at a stretch. It would also see the introduction of pit-stops. It would be a real experience for the budding drivers," Sharma said.

This year's championship would also include races of saloons car and superbike races in the 600 cc and 1000 cc categories, he added.
