New Delhi: Govt High School, Harnamdass Pura (Jalandhar) defeated Birsa Munda Vidyapith, Rourkela, Orissa 4-2 in the tie-breaker to win the 25th Nehru Sub-Junior Boys Hockey Tournament here today.

Spring Dale Sr School Amritsar (Punjab) finished third after beating state-rivals Malwa Khalsa Sr Sec School, Ludhiana 4-2. In the finals, both the schools were tied 0-0 after the regulation time.

In the tie-breaker, the Jalandhar team converted all its chances, while James J Munda and David Minz failed to sound the board for the Rourkela school.

For the Jalandhar team, Gursahib Singh, Gaurav sehgal, Satbir Singh, Sukhmanjit Singh scored. Arbin Barla and Amonmiru's Tirkey converted for Birsa Munda Vidyapith.

In the third-place playoff, Rupinder Singh scored three goals for Spring Dale, while Harmeet Singh also chipped in with a goal. Gagandeep Singh was the lone scorer for Malwa Khalsa, striking a brace.
