Daniel Chopra tied eighth at FBR Open

daneilScottsdale (USA):DanielChopra started his campaign at the FBR Open in style with a five-under 66 thatput him in tied eighth place, just two off the lead after a chilly and cold dayat Scottsdale's7,216-yard layout.


Dudley Hart took the lead shooting a seven-under 64 to move one ahead of thefield.

Chopra, who was 27th at the tournament last year, started off in style withthree birdies in first four holes.

They came on the first, third and fourth giving him momentum. He added a fourthon 12th and two more on 15th and 17th to go six under. But a missed par puttended the Swede's bogey-free run to bring him down to five-under 66 for theday.

Chopra was fine off the tee and found 78 per cent greens in regulation andneeded 27 putts for his round.

Among Asian Tour players, Korea'sCharlie Wi returned a 68 while Andrew Buckle, who finished fourth in the BuickInvitational last weekend, struggled to a 76.

The 38-year-old leader Hart was followed by six players at six-under 65 - PaulAzinger, David Toms, Tom Pernice Jr, John Rollins, Aaron Baddeley and BrianGay.

At 66 was another bunch including Chopra, Bart Bryant, Bubba Watson, JeffQuiney and Robert Garrigus.

Two-time champion Phil Mickelson had a round of 72 that included six bogeys,three birdies and an eagle. The left-hander has not finished higher than 16thsince his blowout on the 18th hole at the US Open and this year in his firsttwo events he has tied for 45th and tied for 51st.
