Madrid:Barcelonawere beaten 0-1 at home by Zaragoza in thefirst leg of a Spanish cup quarter-final tie.

Barcelona turned in anotherdull display yesterday (Feb 1,2007), in front of a poor crowd of only around25,000 in the CampNou.

Zaragoza, who knocked Barcelonaout of the cup twice in the last three years, won thanks to some soliddefending and a late goal from Uruguayan defender Carlos Diogo.

In the 77th minute, Diogo rose to head in a well-workedcorner and silence the crowd.

Zaragoza could have gone ahead just before the interval whenstriker Sergio Garcia hit the Barcelonapost.

Barcelonaimproved in the second half, but lacked the wit to break down a well-ordereddefence.

The second leg will be played in ZaragozaFeb 28.

Barca has not won the King's Cup, as it is known, since1998. Zaragoza, in contrast, has won it fourtimes in the last 20 years - and reached the final last season.

In Wednesday's other cup matches, Deportivo Coruna thrashedsecond division Valladolid 4-1 and Getafe beat Osasuna 3-0.
