Formula 1: Rubens Barrichello feels at home Tuesday, January 30, 2007 11:23 [IST]
London: Rubens Barrichello s confident 2007
will be a fruitful year after Honda launched their new Formula One car in Spain.
The Brazilian driver insisted that this season would be different, as he has
now settled into the Honda team following his move from Ferrari at the end of
2005.
"It was a great feeling. It's so different from last year when
everything was new to me," said the 34-year-old.
"This year things are a lot calmer and I was able to jump into the car
and have a feeling for it straight away," he said.
"Last year was quite difficult, I had to jump into a car that initially
I didn't quite like and I had to change myself into the style of the car,” he
explained.
"This year's seems a lot smoother...I'm feeling very confident for the
season," he said.
Barrichello revealed that he had struggled to get to grips with last year’s
car but is optimistic for this season.
"It was a difficult car for me to drive with the brakes and the
traction control," he said of the old RA106.
"I spent all of last year trying to improve that situation. We did
improve it to my liking, and I started very much enjoying the car, but it was
only in the December tests that I was able to have everything that I had asked
for," he confessed.
"In the races I just struggled with so many small parts that this new
car has improved. This time is a lot calmer.I feel the spirit of the team now,
now I know everyone's name.I am part of the team, part of the family so I am
feeling very good," he said. |
