CA talking to BCCI to organise ODI series

Melbourne: Cricket Australia is negotiating with the Indian board (BCCI) to organise a one-day series between the two countries in New York this year.

CA wants to participate in the Indian initiative to play in the US but there is a stumbling block as the BCCI has demanded the bulk of the cash generated from the Indian television market, according to a media report here.

It has been estimated the five-match series would generate up to US$ 30 million through India's lucrative pay television market, a report in 'The Age' said today.

The Indians hold the upper hand in negotiations.

"They know that if Australia does not play ball, the West Indies, South Africa, England or New Zealand would jump at the chance to make millions for a relatively short commitment," the report said.
