Real Madrid to punish Capello for gestures Wednesday, January 17, 2007 02:55 [IST]
Madrid: The board of Real
Madrid has decided to punish coach Fabio Capello for "his inconsiderate
attitude towards two spectators" following Sunday's home game against Zaragoza.
The Spanish giants said in a statement Tuesday that the
decision was taken at a meeting Monday, although no details were given as to
the nature of the punishment.
Following the 1-0 triumph against Zaragoza,
Capello faced the seats behind the team's bench and twice raised the middle
finger of his right hand.
"The Sports Management has taken into account not only
the public explanation offered by the coach in the press conference after the
match, but also his attitude before the Real Madrid Sports Manager,
acknowledging and regretting his mistake and accepting in advance any
disciplinary measure that the Club might take in the face of his unfortunate
gesture," the statement said.
"From the first day I arrived I have two people behind
the bench who continuously offend me. This time it has gone over the
limit," Capello said Sunday, in his apology after the game.
