Barabati stadium spruced up for India-West Indies match
Monday, January 15, 2007 03:20 [IST]

Cuttack: The Barabati stadium is being spruced up and new facilities added ahead of the second one-day cricket international between India and West Indies here on January 24.
A new coat of paint is being provided to the galleries while the turf, on which a Ranji Trophy Plate Group semi-final ended yesterday, was in good shape, Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) secretary Asirbad Behera said.

The tickets for the day-night match would be sold through UCO Bank from January 21, he said.

"We have decided not to sell more than two tickets to a person and the sale would continue till all the tickets are exhausted," he said.

The stadium would have 30,190 seats of which over 7,000 would be provided to organisations and clubs affiliated to the OCA besides complimentary passes to dignitaries and those on duty.

OCA had also arranged to beam the action on the ground live on six LCD screens outside the stadium.

While three such screens would be installed outside the stadium complex, the rest would be located at places to be decided by the police, Behera said.

For the first time, two large digital scoreboards have been installed on which replays of the proceedings could be seen.

A supersopper has also been procured from Australia to deal with the problem of dew during the match, the OCA Secretary said.
