Liverpool to miss Garcia for rest of the season
Thursday, January 11, 2007 04:15 [IST]

London: Liverpool will be without midfielder Luis Garcia for the rest of the season because of his knee injury.

The Spaniard ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Tuesday's 3-6 Carling Cup quarterfinal loss to Arsenal.

"Unfortunately we expect to be without Luis for six months," said Ian Cotton, head of press of Liverpool club.

There was better news for another of the club's midfielders, Mark Gonzalez, who was also carried off against Arsenal.

The Chilean suffered a shin injury but will be back in action within three weeks.
