BCCI hopes WICB -WIPA row will not upset tour Thursday, January 11, 2007 05:10 [IST]
Mumbai: A pay dispute between the West Indies players and
their cricket board is threatening to disrupt their upcoming tour to India
but BCCI is confident that the impasse will not derail the series.
The West Indies Players' Association is negotiating with WICB over fees for
playing in India
and that has led to the delay in announcement of the squad for the Indian tour.
"The West Indies cricket board and
players seem to have some differences over the payment for the tour but they
have not intimated us that they are not coming," BCCI Administrative
Officer, Ratnakar Shetty said here today.
The tour was not part of the original tours programme and was formalised on the
request of the the Indian cricket board.
The West Indies team are scheduled to play four ODIs in Nagpur
(Jan 21), Cuttack (Jan 24), Chennai (Jan 27) and
Baroda (Jan
31).
The team will arrive in India
on the 17th of this month and will take a flight to Nagpur the next day for the first ODI on
January 21.
The Indian team for the first-two one dayers will be picked tomorrow at Rajkot.
