Australia: Australian Chris Guccione used 22 aces to help overcome an early 5 0 deficit and beat second seeded Richard Gasquet of France 1 6, 6 3, 7 6 (4) in the Adelaide International quarterfinals Friday.

Losing the first five games of the first set within 12 minutes, Guccione blasted serve after serve down the middle line to frustrate Gasquet and get back into the match..

Guccione added three aces in the third set tiebreaker, the last on match point.

Top seeded Novak Djokovic of Serbia, who came from a break down in each set, beat American Paul Goldstein 6 4, 7 5.

Djokovic will play the winner of Friday night's quarterfinal between Joachim Johannson of Sweden and American Vincent Spadea.

Russian baseliner Igor Kunitsyn, who beat hometown favorite Lleyton Hewitt on Thursday, played Juan Martin Del Potro of Argentina in another quarterfinal later.
