Indian canoe duo finish sixth and last

Doha: Indian duo Sawlabow Sawlabow and Maisanam Sanjit Singh finished sixth and last in the canoe double men's 500-metre firnal in the Asian Games here today.


The Indian pair came in far behind gold medallists Kazakhstan after trailing the first five throughout the contest held at the West Bay Lagoon.

The Indians crossed the finish line in a slow 2 minutes, 02.597 seconds in the race won by Kazakistan's Alexandr Dyadchuk and Kaissar Nurmaganbetov in 1:45.801.

The silver and bronze medals went to China and Uzbekistan while Indonesia and Japan also finished ahead of India in that order.

This was the last medal hope for India in the Canoe and Kayak competiton of the Games which are drawing to a close tomorrow.
