Golf: Jeev Milkha Singh eyeing Volvo treble Saturday, December 09, 2006 11:44 [IST]

Bangkok; Jeev Milkha Singh, enjoying red-hot form this season, would be eyeing
a Volvo Treble as he gets ready for the season-ending Volvo Masters of Asia
starting at the Thai Country Club here next week.
Jeev, who has already won the Volvo China Open and Volvo Masters of Europe this
season, is looking to his third Volvo title.
One of the busiest players in the world, Jeev is already in top-50 of the world
a goal he had kept to himself at the
start of the year, when he was languishing in the 376th place.
He has four worldwide victories and 18 top-10 finishes on three Tours Asian,
European and Japan.
The Indian, who broke into the world's top-50 with victory in the Golf Nippon
Series JT Cup in Japan last
Sunday, can also become the first player to win Tour Championships on two Tours in the same season,
if he grabs the title here.
"So far there have been two Vs and hopefully (by next week) there will be
three Vs," said Jeev.
"That would be something special. That would be a treat for the yearend,
my Christmas gift." Jeev finished tied 40th in last year's Asian Tour
season-ending Volvo Masters of Asia, a second round 79 knocking him right out
of contention, but that poor outing has not dampened his enthusiasm for the Dec
14-17 tournament or the Thai Country Club.
"It is an excellent golf course, definitely one of the best in Thailand.
The course is very well kept and last year the rough was up a little. I hope
they have more even rough this year because the greens are always great,"
said Jeev, who will celebrate his 35th birthday on the second day of the
tournament. |
