Fans need to keep faith: Virender Sehwag Monday, December 04, 2006 05:18 [IST]
Centurion: Stand-in skipper Virender Sehwag asked Indian
fans not to lose heart after another thrashing at the hands of South Africa in
the one-day series here yesterday.
"Fans should keep the trust in us. We did well in the Test series in the
West Indies earlier this year, and will try to turn things around here
also," Sehwag said after the nine-wicket pounding at the hands of South Africa at the Supersport Park.
Sehwag said the team would work hard before the three-Test series starting in Johannesburg on December
15 to salvage the tour, which has been disastrous so far.
"We will keep working on our basics. Tests are a different game altogether
and the tour game in between will be useful to get some batting practice,"
the Delhi
batsman said.
Sehwag said that India
fell way short of a competitive total in today's match.
"We were short by 50 runs on a good track. It eased out in the afternoon,
but gave some assistance to bowlers in the morning.
"The bowlers did a good job for us in the series so far, but today we did
not have the runs on the board," he added.
