Tennis:Tension between Nalbandian and Mancini Wednesday, November 29, 2006 06:09 [IST]
Moscow: Argentina's Davis Cup captain Alberto Mancini became involved in a heated argument on centre court at Moscow's Olympic Stadium with his top player, David Nalbandian. Mancini declined to give details when asked about the disagreement by reporters after the training session Tuesday. "No comment," Mancini said as he left the changing room at the stadium after a long day of training ahead of the Davis Cup final against Russia, which is scheduled to start Friday. The argument between Mancini and Nalbandian took place during the training late afternoon. Juan Chela easily beat Nalbandian in a practice set. Mancini and the world No.8 Nalbandian then got engaged in a visibly tense exchange on a bench beside the court. After a cooling-down period of about 10 minutes, the discussion again became more heated, as Agustin Calleri and Jose Acasuso exchanged shots a few metres away. Chela had already left the court. Argentina is seeking to win this week the first Davis Cup of its history this week. |
