Jeev jumps eight places to be World No 55 Tuesday, November 28, 2006 03:21 [IST]
New Delhi: Ace Indian golfer Jeev Milkha Singh's triumph in the Casio World Open in Japan has brought him to the threshold of breaking into the top 50 of world rankings with the golfer jumping eight places to be at 55th spot.
The improvement in ranking would definitely boost Jeev, the Asian Order of Merit winner, who is close to achieving his goal of breaking into the top 50 and thus getting an invitation to the US Masters next April.
This has been a spectacular year for Jeev, who redeemed his career by winning the Volvo China Open in Beijing and then made impressive finishes in the Asian tour.
The biggest win for the Chandigarh golfer came when he left behind some top golfers to triumph in the Volovo Masters in Europe, which saw him break into the top 100 in rankings.
Jeev belted the third win of the season yesterday when he won the Casio Masters by two strokes.
Eyeing a Volvo treble, he will tee off in next month's Volvo Masters of Asia in Bangkok.
Among other Indians in world rankings, Jyoti Randhawa maintained his 80th place while Shiv Kapur moved up eight places to 171. Gaurav Ghei went up one place to be at 214.
Arjun Atwal, who failed to secure his PGA Tour card, slipped further to 255th.
