London: Kimi Raikkonen has confessed he may retire in 2010 after having secured the World Championship with Ferrari. The Finnish driver, who made his Formula One debut in 2001 with Sauber-Petronas before switching to McLaren-Mercedes the following year, insisted he will do whatever it takes to become World Champion, including taking advice from Michael Schumacher.
Räikkönen conceded he would be foolish to overlook the chance to tap into his predecessor’s experiences after 11 hugely successful seasons at Maranello.
"I would be silly, if I didn’t use it," he told Germany’s Bild newspaper
"It would be very good, if Michael could help me to settle in at Ferrari," he said.
He said,"If Ferrari wants, I can work every evening to 10pm in the future. I am not afraid of hard work."
The 27-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Italian Scuderia and despite admitting that matching the heights of Schumacher’s seven world titles is virtually impossible, someone, someday might just step up to the plate. "I am convinced that his record does not have to be for eternity," he said.
"I won’t be racing long enough for seven titles. Perhaps this Ferrari contract is already my last," he revealed.
