Marc Gene confirmed as Ferrari's test driver
Monday, November 13, 2006 05:33 [IST]

London:  Ferrari has confirmed that Spaniard Marc Gene will remain as the team's test driver for next season, the Formula One team announced over the weekend.

"He will remain at our disposal if required to be involved in testing," said a spokesman.

"He will be with us next year but with the reduction in testing it is less likely that he will do too many km,"  he said.
Italian Luca Badoer is Ferrari's main test and reserve driver.

All the Formula One teams including Ferrari, have agreed to a substantial reduction in testing next year, with less need for tyre testing in particular as Bridgestone become the sole supplier after Michelin's departure.

The former Minardi driver has been with Ferrari since the end of 2004 and was previously a test driver for Williams, stepping in for Ralf Schumacher on three occasions, securing a fifth in Italy in 2003, and a tenth and twelfth in France and Britain in 2004.
