ATP: Robredo routs Delgado to enter last four
Saturday, September 30 2006 14:21 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

Mumbai: Top seed Tommy Robredo shows fine touch and makes his unheralded Paraguayan rival Ramon Delgado dance to his tune on way to a comprehensive 6-2, 7-6 (1) quarter-final victory in the USD 380,000 Kingfisher Airlines Open here today (30 Sep, 2006).

Spaniard Robredo, the world no 7, advances to a semifinal match-up with Dmitry Tursenov who struggles his way past British qualifier James Auckland in an earlier quarter final clash.

The Russian fourth seed, ranked 22nd in the world, wins 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

There is a major upset in the bottom half of the singles draw when former top twenty player Stefan Koubek of Austria shocks second seeded Mario Ancic of Croatia 3-6, 6-4 6-3 to storm into the last four.

The 29-year-old Vienna-based left-handed Koubek, ranks 118 in the world, takes full advantage of an error-prone Ancic, the world no 11, to emerge the surprise winner in a tense two-hour battle at the Cricket Club of India courts.
