Spaniard Robredo, the world no 7, advances to a semifinal match-up with Dmitry Tursenov who struggles his way past British qualifier James Auckland in an earlier quarter final clash.

There is a major upset in the bottom half of the singles draw when former top twenty player Stefan Koubek of Austria shocks second seeded Mario Ancic of Croatia 3-6, 6-4 6-3 to storm into the last four.
The 29-year-old Vienna-based left-handed Koubek, ranks 118 in the world, takes full advantage of an error-prone Ancic, the world no 11, to emerge the surprise winner in a tense two-hour battle at the Cricket Club of India courts.
