Yuvraj Singh supports experimentation policy
Thursday, September 28 2006 12:26 Hrs (IST) - World Time -

New Delhi: Yuvraj Singh Wednesday (27 Sep, 2006) dismisses the growing criticism of Team India's experimentation policy in the one-dayers, saying there is no hue and cry over the policy when things were going smoothly for the side.

"This (experimentation) has been going on for the past six months. When it was working, nobody questioned it. Now only you media people have started questioning it," Yuvraj says on the sidelines of promotional event here.

After India lost the ODI series in West Indies and then failed to reach the finals of the DLF cup in Malaysia, ex-cricketers have questioned the constant shuffling of the batting line-up.

Asked about team's lacklustre performance in Malaysia, Yuvraj is candid, "We don't have any excuse to offer."

He says the team was a bit unlucky to have lost the first match against West Indies by the Duckworth-Lewis method.

"We were playing after a long gap and I hope that things would get better before the Champions Trophy," he says.

Yuvraj says the forthcoming Challenger Series is a good opportunity for the team to prepare for the Champions Trophy.

"Champions Trophy is going to be tough as the world's best teams will be competing," he says.

"There are still a couple of weeks before the start of the tournament and the team is working really hard. I am looking forward to it." Yuvraj, who could not play the first few matches of the DLF cup due to an illness, says.

"I have been suffering from a mild throat infection but I hope to recover soon."
